NOT SO HAPHAZARD
Pamela Beck’s pivot from writing to visual art took shape with her first series, NOT SO HAPHAZARD. Inspired by a vision of rectilinear lines and shadows on a pristine background, she created compositions that balance precision with playfulness. Using an array of sticks—some raw, others meticulously sanded and painted, Pamela fashions works that range from gravity-driven constructs to carefully crafted collages, each piece a study in precision, equilibrium, and the interplay of light and shadow. As the series evolved, it expanded into diptychs and triptychs, with lines flowing seamlessly across multiple panels. NOT SO HAPHAZARD embodies the tension between chance and control, revealing the unexpected elegance of the seemingly random.
